6th-grade students of the Deutsche Schule Málaga had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a unique workshop on environmental protection and sustainability during their class trip to Tarifa. Under the passionate guidance of Sabrina Förster from the Global Society Institute Tarifa, the students deepened their understanding of environmental issues through creative, engaging, and hands-on activities.

The workshop began with a screening of the trailer for the beloved children’s film *The Lion King*. Viewing the world through Simba’s eyes, the students were encouraged to reflect on their own "kingdom," quickly grasping the idea that, like the young lion king, they too bear responsibility for protecting their environment. This powerful metaphor laid the foundation for understanding the crucial role each of us plays in environmental stewardship.

Following this introduction, the students embarked on an exciting scavenger hunt across the Punta Paloma campsite. Divided into two teams, they eagerly set out to locate all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, which had been hidden around the site. With great enthusiasm and teamwork, the students engaged in the search, with the girls’ team ultimately emerging victorious.

The SDGs discovered during the scavenger hunt provided a springboard for a deeper exploration of the 2030 Agenda’s objectives. The students then applied and reinforced their newly acquired knowledge through a specially designed board game, making the learning experience both fun and educational.

Given the proximity of their accommodation to the sea, the workshop eventually focused on Goal 14 of the Agenda: "Life Below Water." Stirred by striking images depicting the devastating effects of marine pollution, the students brainstormed creative ways to contribute to ocean conservation in their daily lives and for the future.

This workshop not only equipped the students with valuable knowledge but also empowered them to take active steps toward environmental protection—much like Simba, the young lion king, who cares for his kingdom. The lessons and insights gained during the workshop stayed with the students throughout the remainder of their trip, inspiring them to adopt sustainable and environmentally conscious habits for the future.
